MILTON - c0-PRODUCER, DRAMATURG

Milton: a Performance Project by PearlDamour is the culmination of years’ worth of visits made by PearlDamour and Ashley Sparks to five towns named Milton across the United States. I joined them on their visits as an Engagement Strategist and Dramaturg. In Wisconsin, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Louisiana, and Oregon, we interviewed local residents and community groups about where they live and how they define their role in the world. The result is an experimental performance about American community involving scale models of Milton’s landmarks, artifacts from each town, and large video projections of the five skies over the five towns, captured in each Milton. The production of MILTON brings experimental performance to communities that rarely have access to it, offering new perspectives on how to share stories of one’s history, town, and individual experience.

In Oregon we partnered with the City of Milton-Freewater to develop a series of bilingual free community arts programs called Talk Play Dream: Hablar Jugar Soñar. These events were designed to bridge the Anglo and Latino communities of Milton-Freewater to begin to dream about what is possible for the future of their community. Over 150 young people and 1500 adults participated in these activities over the course of 18 months.
